Everyone knows that building a steady stream of traffic is the key to success for any website or online business. Whether it’s from using PPC at Google Adwords, Yahoo Marketing, MSN Adcenter or Abrite, increasing organic search result ranks using SEO, buying banner advertisements, buying text links, submitting to directories, writing articles, or purchasing targeted traffic, you need it to get your website known. You can’t have sales, ad revenue, or member signups if no one knows you exist in the first place. Being a website owner myself, I purchased traffic from four other companies long before I made this website. At first, I had no idea what to look for when buying traffic, I was new to internet marketing and ended up making a few critical mistakes. The first company that I bought traffic from seemed to be well listed in search engines and had low prices. I browsed their website, decided I liked the idea of the program, and paid $149 for 100,000 hits. I quickly learned that in the online world, cheaper is not better. Soon after I started getting the hits I noticed that they seemed to be odd and non-human like. They would come from the same areas and spend no time on the site. Now it’s a fact that some people will just close your site, but my website’s statistics showed unusually large amounts of this. I canceled my order and had quite a bit of trouble getting my money back. The other three companies that I bought website traffic from were similar.
I began to notice some odd things about these traffic purchasing sites. It seemed that even though the site design was different, the general idea was the exact same thing, and even most of the text copied word for word. Many of the sites had both numerous spelling errors and severe grammatical mistakes indicative of bad translation from another language. The site designs were also flawed, such as when I bought traffic at one site and the confirmation page was missing. I also noticed that the sites did not even list an email address, but instead had you fill out a form which you could submit questions to them with. This is a bad means of communication and is used to hide the company’s real email address.
Seeing all these common problems on traffic purchasing websites, I came to the conclusion that many of these sites are scams, based in China or other foreign countries. They will take your money, give you fake “visitors” or garbage traffic from spam free traffic exhanges, and become impossible to contact. If you have purchased traffic before, you may have noticed all of this too. It’s very frustrating to buy what you believe to be good traffic, and get garbage in return.

Wooha, thanks for pointing it out. It never occured to me that it was possible to buy traffic. You must attract visitors by creating interesting content and make a buzz around it. Even if you buy adds or exchange clicks, you will probably gain some traffic – but the chance that any of them would actually stay on your site are low.

Organic traffic has always had the highest converting rates for me. Although, it can be a little slow in coming and harder to get.
In order to make your business popular advertising was the common way to do so. And today the internet was the best platform to do advertising because of the bulk users that were visiting the internet every second.
The effective step to achieve success with your online business is through marketing. In fact, almost all of the business now are into different marketing strategies. This is because, competition is very stiff especially online, that’s why promoting own site is a must.
I have used traffic exchanges before. I even you used to manage a pop under exchange site. It’s a good way to get numbers if you are needing to boost your rankings on sites like Alexa. But yeah the traffic isn’t exactly sign up material since it is usually incentivised traffic like PTC, PTR, traffic exchanges or it is 404 redirects. The conversion on that kind of traffic sucks. About one sale for every 500,000 hits.
There were several ways to increase the traffic rate in our site, what we need to do was to consider the strengths and the weaknesses of each strategy in order to make sound decision if what would be best for your site.
