Methods on how getting backlinks

By: Febrian

Backlinking as part of SEO hold important value to increase website popularity on search engines ranking page. There are many methods used to get backlinks to increase traffic and pagerank for your website.

Below are 4 type of backlinking webmaster or blogger often use :

1). Resource Linking
Resource Link could be one-way or two-way. Basically they are hyperlinks to a website or a specific webpage containing content believed to be benefical, useful, and relevant to visitors of the site establishing the link.

In recent years, resource links have grown in importance because most major search engines have made it plain that “quantity, quality, and relevance of links count towards your rating.” Most major search engines have deployed technology designed to mark and potentially penalized sites which employing tactics such as gaining a hundreds link in one day.

2). Reciprocal Link
It is a mutual understanding between two object to ensure mutual traffic e.g. if i have link towards your website and you have mine, it is called reciprocal link since both party acknowledge each other. Reciprocal linking between websites is an important part of search engine optimization since google uses link popularity algorithms (defined as the number of links that led to a particular page and the anchor text of the link) to rank websites for relevancy.

3). Forum signature linking
Forum signature linking is a technique used to build backlinks to a website. This is the process of using forum communities that allow outbound hyperlinks in a member’s signature. This can be a fast method to build up inbound links to a website; it can also produce some targeted traffic if the website is relevant to the forum topic. It should be stated that forums using the nofollow attribute will have no actual Search Engine Optimization value.

4). Blog comments
Leaving a comment on a blog can result in a relevant do-follow link to the individual’s website. Most of the time, however, leaving a comment on a blog turns into a no-follow link, which is almost useless in the eyes of search engines, such as Google and Yahoo! Search. On the other hand, most blog comments get clicked on by the readers of the blog if the comment is well-thought-out and pertains to the discussion of the other commenters and the post on the blog.

Be very careful with reciprocal linking. It is NOT a good idea to have reciprocal links as that devalues both of them. The best way to do it is in anchor text links or doing a three-way link. That way everyone, gets the most benefits :-)

Getting back links from blogs, forums and websites is good but be sure that these links must have dofollow tags. Otherwise, you will not get benefit for linking.

I`m agree with Jan – google has some kind of nepot filter: if you are not trusted enough from this search engine, these links won`t bring you nor PR, nor additional positions on serp.

From the SEO point of view, reciprocal links have very little value, because you are making a closed loop for the link juice. You may benefit from visits, but that’s about it. Three or four-way link exchange is much better choice. Blog comments and forum signatures will help as well, but the sweetspot is always a link on homepage of a relevant, quality site.
BTW, great summary.

If you want to rank high on SERPs then backlinks is king! What I like is High PR Profile Backlinking. It’s the easiest backlink and the most effective because you are linking from High PR sites. just my two cents.

Joshua has a point it’s essential to link your site to High PR sites coz this will help your site to be recognize by giant search engines like of Google….and please be careful in linking your site to other non essential sites like of “porn” sites..lol..

Thanks for the post. I’m a big fan. I think my blog has a good variety of posts, but it’s over two years old and I’ve gotten very little attention, despite following the usual protocol (submitting to directories, commenting on other blogs, posting (semi-)regularly, attaching my URL to email signatures and social network profiles, and cross-posting. So I’ve given up on seeking out backlinks. I just gave my blog sort of a makeover, and am trying hard to figure out what I did wrong.
